Meditation

Meditation is a mystical science. It allows a person to relax, to quieten the mind, and to perceive the peace and serenity of their true internal nature. Meditation is a major part of the Gnostic studies because it is through the practice of meditation that we can activate the consciousness within.

In our everyday life, our mind becomes stressed, anxious and agitated. The mind reacts against the circumstances of life, regrets the past, fears the future and keeps us out of the present moment in which we are actually living. It is beyond these tensions of the mind that we need to truly feel ourself as a Being, as a soul. It is in freeing this part within us, the consciousness, that we can experience the mysteries of the universe as they are in themselves. We can experience the realities of our inner Being, the astral world, and the simple peace, serenity and inspiration that comes from within.

Meditation allows a person to centre themselves, to raise their emotional level and to awaken their internal reality. It is only from this state that we can see things a bit more clearly- in the same way that we can see a landscape more completely when we walk to the top of a mountain and look down. We have an opportunity to really look at the issues in our life and our mind with greater clarity, to see the underlying causes of our perceived problems.

Practices in meditation include learning how to relax and quieten the mind, to psychoanalyse issues in the mind, to work with our internal energies, develop the imagination etc., etc.
